Tron Legacy’s DVD & Blu-Ray release date has been set as April 11th, 2011 for the UK, and while a United State release date has yet to be confirmed, it’s liked it will debut on April 12th, 2011.

Pricing information and preorder links have not yet released, but but information on what editions Disney will distribute the film on the Home Entertainment Market have come available.

Walt Disney plans on releasing a minimum of three different versions of Tron Legacy on DVD and Blu-Ray, which will include the very first announcement of Tron 1982 Blu-Ray release date, and wide DVD distribution.

— The first edition of Tron Legacy is the most obvious, which is a Combo Pack which will include a DVD and Blu-Ray edition of the film, with the possibility of a Digital Copy in several territories.

— Differentiating from the strategy they used with Alice in Wonderland 2010, Walt Disney plans on giving Tron Legacy an immediate 3D Blu-Ray release date. That said, the next edition is a two-disc (possibly three-disc) edition called the “3D Super Pack”, which will include a DVD, Blu-Ray 3D, and assured Digital Copy of Tron Legacy. 

— The third edition that Disney will give Tron Legacy is the most interesting. It will include both Tron Legacy on Blu-Ray, as well as 1982 Tron’s first Blu-Ray release. It’s not yet known, but Tron (1982) is may very well still get an individual Blu-Ray release, but it’s not guaranteed.

The first Tron (1982) is currently highly sought after, and even highly sought after due to its limited availability. It received only a very limited DVD release back in 2002, and thanks in part to Tron Legacy, they are becoming more and more rare.

Either way, Disney will undoubtedly be looking for Tron Legacy to post very strong worldwide DVD sales, for both the sequel as well as the original 1982 Tron film.
